We got together online at 1pm on Wed 17 June 2026 for The Self-Assembly Paraplanning Show.

Why ‘Self-Assembly’? Because host Sam Tonks and guests Alan Gow, Jackie Manning and Kimberley Malin started out with four talking points to cover in one lunch-hour. The topics were

– how the paraplanning year has gone so far
– what’s coming up for paraplanners
– what could be a thing but isn’t yet, and
– what events and resources they’re recommending right now

The result is a wide-ranging conversation that takes in mixed feelings about AI (it’s handy for handover emails, but when it’s confidently wrong..?), chat about rising role of annuities and gifting from excess income, plus questions about the decline of cash, what advice might look like in the future if so-called ‘finfluencers’ are allowed to continue to ‘finfluence’.

Sam Tonks

Lloyds Wealth

Sam is a Technical Advice Specialist at Lloyds Wealth and has spent more than 20 years as a career paraplanner. She is passionate about financial planning and takes pride in her technical expertise, collaborative approach and commitment to supporting others in the profession.

She is emotional support human to her tuxedo cat, Bernard, who likes to join training videos and any important Teams call.

Alan Gow

Argonaut Paraplanning

Alan is a Chartered Financial Planner, Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and a CISI Accredited Paraplanner. He previously worked as a financial complaints investigator.

Alan sits on the Personal Finance Society’s paraplanner advisory panel and has spoken at national events, including the IFP (now CISI) conference, PFS Paraplanner conference and Paraplanners’ Assembly.

Jackie Manning

Evelyn Partners

Jackie Manning is a Paraplanning Team Leader at Evelyn Partners, bringing over 20 years of experience in financial services. A Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), she combines deep technical knowledge with a genuine passion for helping advisers deliver clear, effective financial planning for clients. Jackie has a particular interest in inheritance tax and trust planning, and enjoys navigating the complexities of this area.

When she's not at work, Jackie can usually be found out and about with her family in her adventure van, Renata.

Kimberley Malin

Core Financial Paraplanning

Kimberley brings broad experience from both in-house and outsourced role and her enthusiasm for Paraplanning and supporting others shines through in everything she does. Kimberley helps ensure Core continues to run efficiently while delivering outstanding service to a mix of independent and network firms. Kimberley also oversees the training and development of the team and takes great pride in living the Core values every day!
